The best sales engagement platforms, graded on what they do to protect the domain they send from
201 of the 248 vendors in this index sell into this category, which makes outbound sending the common denominator of the go to market stack rather than one lane inside it. It is also the lane where a platform failure costs the most, because sending reputation is a shared asset a tool can burn faster than a team can rebuild it, and the domain that burns is yours rather than the vendor's.
Assessed 2026-08-27. 248 vendors indexed across the whole index, 201 in this category.
78 of the 201 platforms document what they actually do about sending discipline: warmup posture, rotation, volume governance, and what happens when complaint rates climb. The other 123 send from your domain and do not say. Volume is the feature being sold here, and restraint is the control being asked about.
The evidence picture is worse than the sending one. 49 of the 201 publish no outcome evidence beyond assertion, the largest absence on any axis in this category, in a lane whose products are bought on reply and meeting rates and whose dashboards report activity volume by default. Set both against 133 documenting what they charge. 2 of the 201 vendors clear all 6 of the axes this category is decided on. 102 carry a grade of D on at least one.
What 201 vendors actually disclose
6 of the seventeen index axes decide a purchase in this category, and every vendor in it carries a grade on all 6. A grade of A or B means a buyer can check the claim without contacting the vendor. A D records that nothing was found in public sources on the verification date, which is far more often an absence of disclosure than a defect in the product.
| Axis | Documented | Share | Nothing to check |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Deliverability and Sending Discipline
The operational craft of sending: warmup, rotation, volume governance, spam rate monitoring, and what happens when reputation degrades. |
78 of 201 | 39 percent | 12 |
|
Outreach Compliance Posture
How the product handles regulated outreach: consent, DNC scrubbing, opt out mechanics, caller ID conduct, and the public enforcement record. |
44 of 201 | 22 percent | 27 |
|
Operational and Outcome Evidence
Measured outcomes with a stated basis: replies, meetings, pipeline, win rates. Logos are not evidence and prestige is not measurement. |
70 of 201 | 35 percent | 49 |
|
Autonomy and Oversight Model
What the system does without a human. Draft for review, auto send, or fully agentic, and what contains a bad run. |
82 of 201 | 41 percent | 3 |
|
Recipient Disclosure and Authenticity
How the product presents itself to the people it targets: whether automated outreach and AI agents disclose themselves, whether sender personas are real, and whether personalization is grounded in verifiable fact. Measured as known compliance with Article 50 of the EU AI Act, in force since August 2, 2026, which requires AI systems that interact with individuals to disclose that fact. |
25 of 201 | 12 percent | 38 |
|
Commercial Transparency
Whether a buyer can budget without a sales call. Published pricing graded on completeness, not on the price itself. |
133 of 201 | 66 percent | 33 |
One row in that table behaves differently from the rest and it is worth noticing. Autonomy carries almost no failing grades, because what the platform does automatically is the thing being sold and gets described in detail. Recipient disclosure sits at the bottom, because what the person receiving the message is told is nobody’s feature. Between those two sit the axes that decide whether a program survives its first quarter: sending discipline, consent mechanics, and whether the results were ever measured.
The 78 platforms whose sending discipline can be checked
78 of 201These are the platforms graded A or B on Deliverability and Sending Discipline, ordered by that grade and then by how many of the other five decisive axes they also document. It is the longest shortlist on any of these pages and it is still 39 percent of the category. Read the depth marker under each name before reading the order: only 2 of the 78 document all 6, and 31 document two or fewer. Several are indexed primarily in another category and appear here because they also sell into this one.

Every grade on this page carries a source basis, and on the deciding axis the mix is worth stating plainly: 190 Vendor Published, 11 Third Party Estimated. That is overwhelmingly vendor published, and on this axis the limitation is specific. A platform describing its warmup and rotation posture is describing what it does by default at a stated volume. What the index cannot grade is the volume your team will actually run, and sending discipline is the one axis in this index where the buyer can undo a good vendor posture without the vendor doing anything wrong.
Read the full methodology →6 questions the published materials will not answer
Where the index found nothing to grade, these are the questions that close the gap. Put them in the evaluation, and get the answers in writing rather than on a call.
Are we sending from our own domain and reputation, or from a shared pool we do not control?
This single answer determines whether a bad campaign by another customer can land in your spam folder, and whether a bad campaign of yours follows you to your next vendor.
What does the product do about SPF, DKIM, DMARC alignment and one click unsubscribe by default rather than by configuration?
The mailbox providers enforce faster than the statute does. A default that has to be found in settings is a default that will not be set.
What complaint or bounce rate triggers a throttle or a suspension, who is notified, and where is that documented before we sign?
Every platform has a threshold. The question is whether you find out what it is now or during the incident.
Does the product create or rotate mailboxes and domains at scale, and what is your written position on that practice?
Rotation at volume is the practice that most reliably separates a deliverability posture from a deliverability workaround.
What is your reply rate or meeting rate, across what population and what period, rather than emails sent?
Activity volume is the metric this category reports by default because it is the metric the platform controls. It is not the metric you are buying.
Does AI generated messaging ship as a draft for review or send automatically, and what does the recipient see about who wrote it?
Recipient disclosure is the weakest axis in this category by a wide margin, and the message goes out under a name that belongs to one of your people.
Common questions
What are the best sales engagement platforms?
The index does not publish a single ranked winner, because a sequencing platform is bought for a motion and the field is enormous: 201 of the 248 vendors in the GTM Tech Index sell into this category. What it does publish is which platforms can be checked before a buyer points them at a domain. 78 document sending discipline at a grade of A or B, 44 document consent and opt out mechanics, and 70 publish outcome evidence with real numbers. Those 78 are listed on this page with their grades across the 6 axes this category is decided on.
How do I stop a sales engagement tool from burning our domain?
Sending reputation is a shared asset that a tool can degrade faster than a team can rebuild it, and it attaches to your domain rather than to the vendor. The checkable part is what the platform does by default: warmup posture, mailbox and domain rotation, volume governance, and what happens when complaint or bounce rates climb. 78 of 201 platforms in this category document that well enough for a buyer to assess it, and 12 publish nothing on it at all. The uncheckable part is your own volume, which is why a strong vendor posture and a weak sending program still produce a burned domain.
Which index tracks sales engagement and outreach software vendors?
The GTM Tech Index tracks 201 sales engagement and outreach platforms, the largest category in the index, each graded on the same seventeen capability axes from public artifacts, with a verification date and a source basis on every figure. It is independently maintained, no vendor pays for inclusion or placement, and material changes to capability, pricing and compliance posture are logged as they are verified.
Do sales engagement platforms handle CAN-SPAM compliance for you?
Not by default, and mostly not in a way a buyer can verify in advance. CAN-SPAM requires accurate header and sender information, a subject line that is not deceptive, a valid physical postal address and a working opt out honored promptly, and the obligation sits with the sender rather than with the software. Of the 201 platforms in this category, 44 document consent, suppression and opt out mechanics substantively and 27 describe automated sending with none of those mechanics stated anywhere. Establish which mechanics the platform enforces and which it leaves to you before the first campaign, not after a complaint. Nothing here is legal advice.
The GTM Tech Index is an independent editorial reference. No vendor pays for inclusion, placement, or rating. Grades reflect the public evidence on the verification date and change as vendors publish more. Compliance postures are assessed from published sources and public records; the index is not a law firm and nothing here is legal advice. Vendors who believe a record is wrong are invited to point the index at published documentation through the contact form on any page, and corrections are logged in the change log.
