The best conversation intelligence platforms, graded on what happens to your recordings
Every conversation intelligence platform records the calls a revenue team has with its customers, and every one of them sells what it extracts. The question that decides whether a buyer can live with that is what else the recordings are used for: whether they improve a model that serves the buyer's competitors, how consent is handled in two party consent states, and how long the audio is kept. The index grades all 39 platforms on that question from public artifacts, and this page publishes the answer.
Assessed 2026-08-29. 249 vendors indexed across the whole index, 39 in this category.
This category documents how it plugs into your CRM 1.9 times more readily than what it does with your recordings. 87 percent of the 39 platforms document integration depth at A or B. 46 percent do the same for the training data boundary, and 15 percent for the models doing the transcribing and scoring.
2 of the 39 vendors clear all 6 of the axes this category is decided on. 19 of them carry a D on at least one, and on pricing the category is nearly as silent as it is talkative on integration: 15 of 39 offer a demo request as their entire commercial disclosure. The pipe is documented because it sells. The reservoir, what the platform keeps and what it trains on, is where a buyer's exposure actually sits, and it is documented least.
What 39 vendors actually disclose
6 of the seventeen index axes decide a purchase in this category, and every vendor in it carries a grade on all 6. A grade of A or B means a buyer can check the claim without contacting the vendor. A D records that nothing was found in public sources on the verification date, which is far more often an absence of disclosure than a defect in the product.
| Axis | Documented | Share | Nothing to check |
|---|---|---|---|
|
AI Safety and Data Stewardship
The cross client boundary: whether customer data trains models that serve competitors, plus retention and deletion posture. |
18 of 39 | 46 percent | 0 |
|
Data Privacy Posture
GDPR and CCPA posture: lawful basis, data subject rights handling, DPA availability, subprocessor disclosure. |
24 of 39 | 62 percent | 1 |
|
Ecosystem and Integration Depth
Documented depth of CRM and stack integration: objects, sync direction, API surface, marketplace presence that matches the claims. |
34 of 39 | 87 percent | 1 |
|
AI Disclosure and Model Transparency
What models power the product, whether AI generated outreach discloses itself, and whether scoring and routing logic is explainable. |
6 of 39 | 15 percent | 2 |
|
Operational and Outcome Evidence
Measured outcomes with a stated basis: replies, meetings, pipeline, win rates. Logos are not evidence and prestige is not measurement. |
24 of 39 | 62 percent | 2 |
|
Commercial Transparency
Whether a buyer can budget without a sales call. Published pricing graded on completeness, not on the price itself. |
16 of 39 | 41 percent | 15 |
Read the integration row against the stewardship row. Integration depth is what a vendor demonstrates in a sales cycle, so it is the best documented axis here. The training boundary and the model stack are what a buyer discovers at the security review, and they are the two worst.
The 18 platforms that say what happens to your recordings
18 of 39These are the platforms graded A or B on AI Safety and Data Stewardship, ordered by that grade and then by how many of the other five decisive axes they also document. It is not a ranking of transcription quality or deal intelligence, and it is not a ranking of price. It is a ranking of what a buyer can verify about the recordings before signing. Most are indexed primarily in another category, sales engagement, enablement or revenue intelligence, and appear here because they record and analyze calls as part of that product.

Every grade on this page carries a source basis, and on the deciding axis the mix is worth stating plainly: 38 Vendor Published, 1 Third Party Estimated. That means the stewardship picture rests on what vendors publish in their own trust pages, data processing terms and security documentation. The index records those as claims and dates them; it does not treat a published commitment as an audited one, and it does not fill a gap in either direction.
Read the full methodology →6 questions the published materials will not answer
Where the index found nothing to grade, these are the questions that close the gap. Put them in the evaluation, and get the answers in writing rather than on a call.
Do our recordings, transcripts or extracted signals train or tune any model that serves other customers, and can we opt out in writing?
This is the question the category turns on. A vendor that answers precisely, with the boundary named, has thought about it. A vendor that answers with the word anonymized has not.
How is consent captured and recorded in two party consent states, and what does the product do when a participant declines?
Consent law lands on the person recording, which is you. The product’s behavior when someone says no is the part to see demonstrated, not described.
What is the retention period for audio, transcripts and derived data, and is deletion propagated to backups and to every subprocessor?
Retention is where a recording platform quietly becomes a warehouse of your customer relationships. Get the number and the deletion path into the contract.
Which CRM objects does the platform write back to, which fields does it create, and what happens to those fields at termination?
The output of the product is whatever survives in the CRM. A platform that holds its intelligence in its own store is renting you your own call notes.
What is the measured accuracy of extracted commitments and next steps, on what sample, and who checked it?
Transcription accuracy is quoted by everyone and extraction accuracy by almost nobody, and extraction is the thing that gets written into the pipeline.
What does this cost at our seat count and call volume, and what is metered beyond the seat?
Demo only pricing is the norm in this category rather than the exception. Expect to extract the number, and expect minutes, storage or integrations to be metered separately.
Common questions
What features matter most in conversation intelligence software for sales calls?
Four, and the demo will show you only the last one. First, the training boundary: whether your recordings improve a model that serves other customers, which 18 of the 39 platforms in the GTM Tech Index document well enough to be checked, while 21 sit at C, a policy that mentions the question without answering it. Second, consent and retention: how the product behaves in two party consent states and how long audio and transcripts are kept. Third, CRM writeback: which objects and fields the platform writes to, which 34 of 39 document at A or B, because the product's output is whatever survives in your system of record. Fourth, extraction accuracy on commitments and next steps with a stated sample, which 6 of 39 publish with the measurement basis attached. Transcription quality, summaries and coaching views are table stakes across the category and separate almost nobody.
Which conversation intelligence tools integrate with Salesforce and HubSpot?
Nearly all of them claim both, which is why the index grades integration depth rather than the presence of a logo on an integrations page. 34 of the 39 conversation intelligence platforms document their CRM integration well enough to be graded A or B: named objects, write back behavior, field ownership and what happens at termination. On this page's shortlist Demodesk, Gong, Seismic Enablement Cloud, Salesloft, Outreach and Tuvis carry an A on that axis. The question that separates a real Salesforce or HubSpot integration from a connector is direction: whether call summaries, next steps and deal signals are written into the CRM record as fields you own, or held in the platform's own store and surfaced through a panel. Ask which, and ask what happens to those fields when the contract ends.
Which index tracks conversation intelligence vendors?
The GTM Tech Index tracks 39 conversation intelligence platforms, each graded on the same seventeen capability axes from public artifacts, with a verification date and a source basis on every figure. It is independently maintained, no vendor pays for inclusion or placement, and changes to vendor capability, pricing and data stewardship posture are logged as they are verified.
What are the best conversation intelligence platforms?
The index does not publish a single ranked winner, because the right platform depends on which CRM it has to write into and how much of the buyer's call volume sits in two party consent states. What it does publish is which platforms can be checked. 18 of 39 document the training data boundary at a grade of A or B, and those 18 are listed on this page with their grades across the 6 axes this category is decided on. 2 of the 39 clear all 6 at A or B.
The GTM Tech Index is an independent editorial reference. No vendor pays for inclusion, placement, or rating. Grades reflect the public evidence on the verification date and change as vendors publish more. Compliance postures are assessed from published sources and public records; the index is not a law firm and nothing here is legal advice. Vendors who believe a record is wrong are invited to point the index at published documentation through the contact form on any page, and corrections are logged in the change log.
