UpLead

UpLead is a B2B contact and company database built for small and mid sized sales teams. Users search more than 200 million contacts with over 50 filters, including technographics across thousands of technologies, and unlock emails and mobile numbers verified in real time at the moment of download, with invalid emails and not charged. From the Plus plan up, uploaded lists can be enriched with more than 50 fields. A Chrome extension finds contacts on LinkedIn profiles and company websites, a bulk email verifier costs from $0.003 a check, and a done for you cold email service is offered alongside.

Data comes from public documents, direct submissions and licensed third parties and passes an eight step pipeline that combines AI labeling, anomaly detection and risk scoring with human review, with accuracy promised at 95 percent and credits back when it falls short. Intent data and two way CRM sync come with the quoted Professional plan, while lower plans push records one way into HubSpot, Zoho, Dynamics 365, Pipedrive, Outreach, Salesloft and a dozen other tools. An API returns company and person records at 500 requests a minute.

A seven day trial includes five credits. Essentials costs $99 a month for 170 credits, or $74 a month billed annually with 2,040 credits for the year, and Plus costs $199 for 400 credits, or $149 a month annually with 4,800. Overage runs $0.50 to $0.60 a credit, and a $2 a month plan keeps credits while an account is paused. UpLead, LLC was founded in California in 2017 by Will Cannon, is registered as a data broker in California, Oregon and Texas, and handled more than four million deletion requests in 2024.

AI Capability
AI CentralityAI CentralityWhether AI is the product or a feature veneer. The removal test: peel the AI label off, and does anything sellable remain?
CC on AI CentralityAI features on a conventional platform. Peel the AI label off and the product still works roughly as before.
Vendor Published

AI works inside the data pipeline, labeling records, spotting anomalies, scoring risk at download and flagging records for human review, and search results carry an AI verified label and rank by freshness. The product customers use, a searchable database with real time verification, enrichment and CRM export, works as before without that label, and search itself is keyword and filter based.

Autonomy and Oversight ModelAutonomy and Oversight ModelWhat the system does without a human. Draft for review, auto send, or fully agentic, and what contains a bad run.
CC on Autonomy and Oversight ModelAutonomy is claimed or implied with the oversight model asserted rather than documented. Buyers cannot tell from public sources what runs unsupervised.
Vendor Published

Nothing acts on the customer's behalf beyond verification at unlock and Salesforce Connected Lists, which import contacts and export matches automatically at a credit per contact. How those syncs are limited or reviewed is not described.

AI Disclosure and Model TransparencyAI Disclosure and Model TransparencyWhat models power the product, whether AI generated outreach discloses itself, and whether scoring and routing logic is explainable.
CC on AI Disclosure and Model TransparencyThe product is described as AI powered with the stack, the disclosure behavior, and the scoring logic all unstated.
Vendor Published

The data pipeline's AI steps are named, from labeling to anomaly detection and risk scoring, but the models behind them and how a record is scored or ranked for freshness are not explained. No privacy commitment covers the AI steps.

Operational and Outcome EvidenceOperational and Outcome EvidenceMeasured outcomes with a stated basis: replies, meetings, pipeline, win rates. Logos are not evidence and prestige is not measurement.
BB on Operational and Outcome EvidenceReal outcome evidence published, with named customers and numbers, but the measurement basis is incomplete: population, period, or definition unstated.
Vendor Published

Case studies cover more than ten customers, among them Kyber Security, which reports $400,000 in pipeline and $50,000 closed over seven months, and others such as Fastsigns, Staffing Future and TBM Consulting. Returns such as Kyber's 1,800 percent come without a basis, and the 97 percent valid email rate and 95 percent accuracy guarantee carry no stated method. Database size itself moves around, from 16 to 19 million companies and from 16,000 to 27,000 tracked technologies.

Compliance and Risk
Outreach Compliance PostureOutreach Compliance PostureHow the product handles regulated outreach: consent, DNC scrubbing, opt out mechanics, caller ID conduct, and the public enforcement record.
BB on Outreach Compliance PostureSubstantive compliance features documented in product, but material questions (litigation history, caller ID practices, where responsibility transfers to the customer) go unaddressed.
Vendor Published

UpLead is registered as a data broker in California, Oregon and Texas, runs an opt out form covering California, Virginia, Oregon, Texas and EU rights, and handled more than four million deletion requests in 2024, all honored with a median of 15 days. Users can switch on an exclude EU contacts setting. California's privacy agency fined UpLead LLC $34,400 in November 2024 for failing to register as a data broker for part of 2024, and UpLead has not acknowledged the fine publicly.

Data Privacy PostureData Privacy PostureGDPR and CCPA posture: lawful basis, data subject rights handling, DPA availability, subprocessor disclosure.
BB on Data Privacy PostureA real privacy program is visible (DPA available, policy substantive) with a gap on the hard question, commonly lawful basis for enriched or tracked individuals.
Vendor Published

UpLead, LLC rests prospect data on legitimate interests, with a balancing test available on request, honors the full set of GDPR rights within a month, treats customers as independent controllers, uses standard contractual clauses for transfers and names EDPO as its EU and UK representative. A standalone DPA and a named subprocessor list are not offered.

Data Licensing and ProvenanceData Licensing and ProvenanceWhere the data comes from and on what legal footing: licensed, contributed, public record, or scraped, and who stands behind the answer.
BB on Data Licensing and ProvenanceProvenance is substantively described but incompletely: sourcing classes named without the legal footing, or indemnification unstated.
Vendor Published

Records come from millions of public documents, direct submissions and licensed third parties, are hand checked rather than simply scraped, and pass an eight step pipeline with human review. Intent data comes from proprietary sources collected with consent. The licensors behind contacts, phones, technographics and intent are not named, and the terms disclaim any warranty of accuracy.

Platform Terms ExposurePlatform Terms ExposureWhether the product operates inside the terms of the platforms it touches, and the restriction risk a buyer inherits when it does not.
CC on Platform Terms ExposureThe vendor is silent on method while the product’s function implies platform automation. Restriction risk is real and unpriced.
Vendor Published

The Chrome extension finds contact details on LinkedIn profiles, LinkedIn people search and company websites. How it reads LinkedIn pages, and how that fits LinkedIn's terms, is not addressed, while UpLead's own terms bar customers from using its API for LinkedIn scraping or automation.

AI Safety and Data StewardshipAI Safety and Data StewardshipThe cross client boundary: whether customer data trains models that serve competitors, plus retention and deletion posture.
CC on AI Safety and Data StewardshipSecurity language exists but the training question, the one this axis turns on, is unanswered: a buyer cannot tell whether their pipeline data improves a competitor’s instance.
Vendor Published

Whether customer data or searches train any AI model is not addressed. Data is kept for as long as there is an ongoing legitimate business need, with no fixed periods, and records are seeded to detect misuse.

Recipient Disclosure and AuthenticityRecipient Disclosure and AuthenticityHow the product presents itself to the people it targets: whether automated outreach and AI agents disclose themselves, whether sender personas are real, and whether personalization is grounded in verifiable fact. Measured as known compliance with Article 50 of the EU AI Act, in force since August 2, 2026, which requires AI systems that interact with individuals to disclose that fact.
CC on Recipient Disclosure and AuthenticityNothing published on whether recipients are told they are dealing with software. For a product whose AI talks to prospects, silence here is now a regulatory posture, not a style choice.
Vendor Published

The database itself sends nothing, but a done for you cold email service is offered alongside it. Whether that outreach is written with AI and disclosed as such, and any position on Article 50 of the EU AI Act, are not addressed.

Integration and Deployment
Ecosystem and Integration DepthEcosystem and Integration DepthDocumented depth of CRM and stack integration: objects, sync direction, API surface, marketplace presence that matches the claims.
BB on Ecosystem and Integration DepthSolid primary CRM integration documented, with depth unstated at the edges (sync direction, custom objects, failure behavior).
Vendor Published

Salesforce syncs both ways on the Professional plan, with Connected Lists importing contacts and exporting matches, while HubSpot receives one way pushes of contacts, companies and leads, and Zoho, Dynamics 365, Pipedrive, Copper, Insightly, Close, Outreach, Salesloft, lemlist and others connect alongside Zapier. The API covers company, person, prospector, list and logo lookups with key authentication and 500 requests a minute. Webhooks are not offered and intent data has no API endpoint.

Deployment Model and Data ResidencyDeployment Model and Data ResidencyWhere the product runs and where customer data lives, including residency options for EU buyers.
BB on Deployment Model and Data ResidencyThe deployment model is clear and residency options are partially specified.
Vendor Published

The service runs on AWS with servers in the United States. Specific regions and any residency choice for EU customers are not stated.

Security Certifications and Trust CenterSecurity Certifications and Trust CenterVerifiable security posture: enumerated current certifications and a trust center an outsider can actually read.
DD on Security Certifications and Trust CenterNo verifiable security posture published for a product that ingests commercial data at scale.
Vendor Published

No security certification, audit report, trust center or statement of security practice is available. UpLead holds customer lists and connected Salesforce and HubSpot accounts alongside a database of more than 200 million people.

Commercial and Operational
Commercial TransparencyCommercial TransparencyWhether a buyer can budget without a sales call. Published pricing graded on completeness, not on the price itself.
BB on Commercial TransparencyPartial pricing published (entry tiers real, enterprise opaque) or pricing published with load bearing exclusions.

Essentials costs $99 a month for 170 credits, or $74 a month billed annually with 2,040 credits a year, and Plus costs $199 for 400 credits, or $149 a month annually with 4,800. Overage runs $0.50 to $0.60 a credit, a $2 a month plan holds credits while an account is paused, and a seven day trial includes five credits. Intent data, full API access, two way CRM sync and team management sit in the quoted Professional plan, and intent credits are unpriced.

Exit and Data PortabilityExit and Data PortabilityWhat happens when a customer leaves: completeness of data export, rights to enriched or licensed data after termination, deletion commitments, and auto renewal mechanics, graded from published terms and documentation.
BB on Exit and Data PortabilityReal export capability documented, with a material exit question unstated in public terms, commonly post termination rights to licensed or enriched records.
Vendor Published

Plans renew automatically unless cancelled 60 days before renewal, prices can rise with 90 days' notice, fees are non refundable and credits are use it or lose it. On termination customers must destroy all UpLead data within seven days and confirm in writing, and closing an account loses unused credits and downloaded lists. How completely lists and enrichment can be exported before leaving is not described.

Deliverability and Sending DisciplineDeliverability and Sending DisciplineThe operational craft of sending: warmup, rotation, volume governance, spam rate monitoring, and what happens when reputation degrades.
BB on Deliverability and Sending DisciplineReal deliverability features documented, with the operating discipline (limits, monitoring, intervention) asserted rather than specified.
Vendor Published

Emails are verified in real time when unlocked and marked valid, accept all or invalid, with invalid emails and not charged, and valid emails are put at more than 97 percent deliverable. Credits back for bounces and poor data are promised, but no claim window or procedure is set out, and the terms disclaim any warranty of accuracy.

Segment and Market CoverageSegment and Market CoverageWho the product actually serves, evidenced: segments, geographies, languages, and customers that match the claim.
BB on Segment and Market CoverageSegment focus is clear and evidenced with a gap in geographic or language specifics.
Vendor Published

Small and mid sized sales teams are the stated buyers, and UpLead counts more than 4,000 customers, with case studies spanning security, safety, staffing, consulting, signage, construction and logistics firms. The data spans more than 200 countries, and an exclude EU contacts setting is available, while coverage depth by country is not given.
