Clari vs Gong (2026)

Last VerifiedSeptember 21, 2026
Verdict

This is an adjacent pair more than a rivalry, and plenty of revenue teams run both: Clari's merger commitments list its Gong integration among those left unaffected. The decision is which record the forecast is built on, and what the vendor has said about training on it. Gong started from the recorded conversation and states on its trust page that customer data is never used to train generative models, backed by audited certification against the international standard for artificial intelligence management systems and nine named certifications. Clari started from the forecast, sells it to finance as well as sales, and holds the first A on outcome evidence in the GTM Tech Index, including a Leader placement in Gartner's first Magic Quadrant for Revenue Action Orchestration in December 2025. Where each is weakest mirrors that. Clari's merger material calls the combined Salesloft corpus the context required to train and enrich models and agents, and nothing located says whether that training runs per customer or across the base. Gong names no hosting region and leans on customer held encryption keys instead.

Select Clari if
  • Finance owns your number. Clari addresses finance as a named buyer alongside revenue operations, sales, marketing, post sales and sales engineering, and a strategic partnership with Workday carries its forecast into financial planning, a buyer almost nothing else in this index serves.
  • You want independent evaluation before you shortlist. The GTM Tech Index awarded its first A on outcome evidence to Clari: a Leader in Gartner's first Magic Quadrant for Revenue Action Orchestration in December 2025, a Leader in Forrester's Revenue Orchestration Platforms evaluation in 2024, and third party economic studies with figures attached.
  • You want to read the contract before the sales process starts. Clari publishes its master service agreement at a public, dated address and references it from the pricing page, and it already carries the Groove engagement product, so forecasting and sequencing sit with one vendor.
Select Gong if
  • The training question is the one your security team will ask first. Gong states on its trust page that customer data is never used to train generative models, without hedging, and backs it with audited certification against the international standard for artificial intelligence management systems and a governance team with a published remit.
  • Integration should not be a line item. Gong's pricing page states the existing technology stack can be integrated at no extra cost, beside a partner marketplace, two way sync with the system of record and a warehouse export product that pushes enriched data into your own data platform continuously.
  • Your security review wants breadth. Gong publishes nine certifications and attestations on its own page, each named and explained, including two privacy certifications, one of them specific to a processor holding personal data in public clouds, and it lets customers bring their own encryption key.

In Summary

The short version of each

Clari

Clari is an enterprise revenue platform built on a data layer, RevDB, that captures activity from the system of record, calendar, email and conversations and runs forecasting, deal inspection, buyer collaboration, conversation intelligence, the Groove engagement product and a layer of revenue agents on top. Since 3 December 2025 it has been merged with Salesloft, forming a company the two describe as serving more than five thousand customers. The GTM Tech Index grades it A on operational and outcome evidence, the first A on that axis in the index, citing Leader placements from Gartner and Forrester, and A on security certifications, ecosystem depth and segment coverage. It holds the privacy information management certification and publishes its master service agreement at a dated public address. It grades D on commercial transparency, with a pricing page that carries no price, and C on stewardship, where its merger material raises a training question nothing located answers.

Gong

Gong created the revenue intelligence category and sells what it calls a Revenue AI Operating System, built on a data layer connecting calls, emails, meetings and records from the customer's system of record, with sequencing, forecasting, enablement, warehouse export and an agent layer around the founding conversation product. The company reports annual recurring revenue above five hundred million dollars and more than five thousand customers. The GTM Tech Index grades it A on five axes: artificial intelligence safety and data stewardship, where its trust page states customer data is never used to train generative models, data privacy, security certifications, ecosystem depth and outcome evidence. It holds audited certification against the international standard for artificial intelligence management systems and publishes nine certifications by name. It grades D on commercial transparency, publishing the pricing model without a number, and C on recipient disclosure for recorded calls.

Buyer Questions

Common questions

Is Clari better than Gong?

They answer different first questions. Gong is built from the recorded conversation outward and holds the stronger compliance record, with twelve axes at A or B against Clari's seven in the GTM Tech Index, including an unhedged statement that customer data never trains generative models. Clari is built from the forecast outward, serves finance as a named buyer and holds the index's first A on outcome evidence. Many enterprises run both, and Clari's merger commitments keep its Gong integration in place.

Does Clari or Gong train AI on my data?

Gong states on its trust page that customer data is never used to train generative models, and the GTM Tech Index grades it A on stewardship for saying so plainly. Clari publishes no equivalent statement that the index located. Its merger material with Salesloft describes a combined corpus of ten billion revenue actions and one trillion data signals as the context required to train and enrich models and agents, and nothing located states whether training runs per customer or across the base. The index records that as an open question, not a finding.

Can I use Clari and Gong together?

Yes, and many revenue teams do. Clari names Gong among its integrations alongside Salesforce and HubSpot, and the frequently asked questions it published on the Salesloft merger commit that existing integrations are unaffected. Gong states that customers can integrate their existing stack at no extra cost. The practical question is which system holds the forecast of record, since both now sell forecasting, and which one your recorded calls live in. Graded by GTM Tech Index against seventeen capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified September 21, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.

How do Clari and Gong price?

Neither publishes a number, and both grade D on commercial transparency. Gong states the model: per user licences plus a platform fee that scales with the number of users, integrations included, behind a form that asks for your team size band before it loads. Clari maintains a pricing page with no price on it, whose only structural facts are no platform fees for integrations or continuous support, premier customer success included and implementation in eight weeks. Graded by GTM Tech Index against seventeen capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified September 21, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.

How does the GTM Tech Index grade Clari and Gong?

Both are graded on the same seventeen capability and compliance axes from public sources, at a documented depth of sixteen each. Gong takes A on stewardship, data privacy, security certifications, ecosystem depth and outcome evidence, and B on seven more. Clari takes A on outcome evidence, security certifications, ecosystem depth and segment coverage, and B on data licensing, privacy and platform terms. Both grade D on commercial transparency. The index publishes no composite score and declares no winner.

Disclosure

Two silences are shared, and one sits at the centre of what both companies sell. Neither publishes an accuracy or error figure for its forecast: Clari for the projected forecast that is its founding product, Gong for the deal scoring and forecast validation it now sells beside conversation capture. Both publish customer outcomes, and neither says how often the number is right. The second silence is the other party on a recorded call.

Clari's Copilot and Gong's recorder both capture conversations with prospects and customers who never contracted with either vendor, and neither states on its public surface whether the recorder announces itself or whether consent is captured before recording begins, although Gong publishes the regional privacy rules and redaction a customer would use to comply.

Two party consent statutes apply across many jurisdictions, and neither vendor states a position on article 50 of the European artificial intelligence regulation. The benign reading is that both leave consent to customer configuration. On training, the index records Clari's position as an open question its own merger material raises, not as a finding that data is pooled. Ask both in writing for forecast accuracy against actuals, recorder behaviour on joining a call, and whether any model is trained across customers.
