Buyer Questions

Common questions

Is Planhat a good alternative to Gainsight?

For mid market software companies, often yes. Planhat unifies CRM, support, product and billing data on a flexible model, lets teams beyond customer success work in it, and includes its AI Platform in every plan. Gainsight remains the fuller suite for large companies that also want product analytics, customer education and communities from the same vendor. In the GTM Tech Index, Gainsight is the category's original vendor and Planhat the challenger built on data unification.

How much do Gainsight and Planhat cost?

Both sell by quote. Gainsight offers two packages with user and customer record limits through a sales form, and procurement data puts them near $150 and $300 a user a month. A typical Gainsight contract runs around $50,000 a year, with setup from about $20,000 to over $100,000. Planhat quotes every plan, sells add ons for upgraded AI, service delivery, email marketing and portals, and prices onboarding and managed services separately. Planhat's flexible data foundation also takes technical administration to shape, and reviewers note a learning curve, but its scope starts narrower. Gainsight offers a separate mid market edition for smaller teams. Graded by GTM Tech Index against seventeen capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified October 17, 2026. Is Gainsight or Planhat more secure?

Gainsight's trust center carries ISO 27001:2022 and a SOC 2 Type 2 report, released on request, along with recovery objectives of 24 hours for service and eight hours for data. Its Salesforce connector was caught up in a November 2025 token compromise that began at another vendor. Planhat has no public trust center or certification, and as a Swedish company it makes no European residency commitment either way. Disclosure

Neither health score comes with an accuracy figure for churn or a lead time before cancellation. In November 2025 Salesforce revoked every token for Gainsight's published applications after unusual activity, with more than 200 Salesforce instances reported as potentially affected, and the compromise was traced to another vendor whose product Gainsight used. Vista Equity Partners has held a majority stake in Gainsight since November 2020. Planhat is independent, founded in Stockholm in 2015 with about $100 million raised.
